1. Lift the vehicle
Raise the vehicle using a lift or jack, making sure the wheels are
in the air and the chassis is firmly supported.
2. Remove the wheels
Remove the corresponding wheels (left rear/right rear) to get
better access to the air spring.
3. Release the air spring pressure
Method ① (recommended): Use the Volvo Vida diagnostic tool, enter
the suspension system, and select "Lower Suspension" or "Bleed
Mode" to release the air pressure.
Method ② (manual): Find the air pipe joint of the air spring and
slowly release the air (be careful of high-pressure air spraying
out).
4. Remove the air spring
Disconnect the air line:
Find the air pipe at the top of the air spring (usually with a
quick-release connector or clamp) and carefully unplug or loosen
it.
Note: There may be a small amount of air leakage, which is normal.
Remove the fixing bolts:
The air spring is usually fixed by the upper fixing bolt (connected
to the body) and the lower fixing bolt (connected to the suspension
arm).
Remove the bolts with a socket wrench (you may need to support the
suspension arm to prevent it from falling).
Remove the old air spring:
Carefully remove the air spring, taking care not to damage
surrounding components (such as sensors, brake lines).
5. Install the new air spring
Align the installation position:
Put the new air spring in place, ensuring that the upper and lower
mounting points are aligned.
Connect the air line:
Reinsert the air pipe into the interface of the new air spring,
ensuring that the clip is locked (to avoid air leakage).
Fixing bolts:
First tighten the upper and lower fixing bolts by hand, and then
tighten them according to the original factory specifications with
a torque wrench (usually 25-30 Nm, refer to the repair manual for
details).
6. Inflate and calibrate
Reconnect the battery.
Use the diagnostic tool (Vida) to initialize the air suspension:
Enter the suspension system and select "Inflation mode" or
"Calibrate suspension height".
The system automatically inflates the new air spring and adjusts it
to the correct height.
7. Test
Reinstall the wheels and lower the vehicle.
Start the engine and observe whether the suspension automatically
adjusts to the normal height.
Take a short test drive to check for any abnormal noise or
suspension abnormalities.
