Truck Air Spring Installation and Replacement
After the air spring on the truck has been used for a long time,
and after the natural aging of the rubber, small cracks will
appear, then the air spring must be replaced.
1. Press the upper end stop with the thumbs of both hands, squeeze
the middle part of the airbag inward with four fingers at the same
time, and compress it down to the width of one hand.
2. Put the compressed air spring between the piston and the top
plate, be sure to place the label of the capsule skin upward.
3. Secure the lower port to the annular seat on the piston and the
upper port to the annular seat under the top plate. During the
installation process, protective measures must be taken to support
the frame and axle to prevent the body from slipping and causing
personal injury.
4. Pressurize the air spring so that its upper and lower ports fit
precisely between the top plate and the piston. The port should
snap into place with a quick snap.
5. Lower the vehicle, the air spring will automatically roll down
along the piston, and the installation is complete.
Notice
1. Clean the top plate and spring piston, check whether there are
burrs or rust on the mounting metal parts (replace if necessary),
and apply soap or tire mounting lubricant on the stop of the piston
(grease is not available).
2. When installing, ensure that the air spring is not damaged, and
the sealing surface of the matching metal parts (cover plate,
piston) is not damaged, rusted and dirty.
3. Inspection of old metal pistons indicates whether there is
accumulated dirt, or rust caused by surface wear and damage. If
present, the piston surface should be cleaned, treated as necessary
to prevent rust or replaced with new metal.
